
I'm Just Here for the Savasana
Hi Friends,
Do you stay for savasana? I bet if you had a really cute dog weighing down your ankles, you would!
But, dog or no dog, really, be honest!
Especially in our home practice, it can be so tempting to skip the “lying around” & get back to our to-do list.
Also called “corpse pose,” as morbid as that may seem, savasana is intentional stillness at the end of any & every asana practice.
One could argue that the quiet contemplation & integration that comes through stillness in savasana is the whole purpose for the physical practice. Isn’t that funny? The stillness is the ultimate movement!
Be assured that you are doing so much more than just lying around when you are in savasana. This posture’s benefits include, but are not limited to: stress reduction, better sleep, lower cholesterol & balanced blood pressure!
So next time you think of skipping those last minutes in your practice, I encourage you to stay, remembering that you are doing so much more than “just lying around.”
