Creativity Constraints
Hi Friends,
I got to speak with an artist I much admire yesterday, and I learned of a system they adopted in their painting process a while ago – to paint every day, but only for 1 hour.
They do this so as not to have the time to overthink & also, in the long run, to guard against burnout.
As someone who can easily get carried away into my creative endeavors, so much so that endless started projects stay forever half-done, the constraints on this creative process inspired me to think that being creative can still work best with a plan. And that, rather than boxing you in, planning could set you free.
