You've Got Grit!
Hi Friends,
Grit has been a quality I’ve always deeply appreciated. I believe my own personal grit keeps me going in my life of chronic pain; and when I see grit in others, I admire their resiliency and commitment against the odds.
I had a recent test of just how gritty I (& we) could be. Right when my partner and I arrived home from vacation, we were thrust into a project that became a much bigger project than anticipated… like all car projects do.
My beloved MINI Cooper had sprung a leak and rather than paying a mechanic the quoted $2K to fix the problem, my particularly gritty partner ordered the part and was hell-bent to do it himself. Even with my help and the help of another one of my friends, what we had hoped to be a straight forward 4-5hr project turned into a roller coaster that took all weekend and 20hrs total.
The very scary we-might-be-in-over-our-heads point came around hour 11 & thoughts of paying a tow truck to come get her and all her separated engine parts crossed our minds for a fleeting second. But determination & sheer stubbornness kept us Googling, YouTubing & creating the tools we needed from other tools. I feel a deep sense of gratitude, accomplishment & relief that this project is complete and we are back to regularly scheduled programming.
