Good Posture is Hard to Find

Hi Friends,

I remember seeing the first “yoga people” in my life & thinking that they just looked so relaxed, like the weight of the world wasn’t on their shoulders – and they all looked so tall! Then, once I started practicing, I realized how much emphasis was put on restoring the natural curves and mobility of the spine.

Our modern world is no help to our posture – driving, typing, sitting at desks all day, then getting home & sitting on squishy furniture – all things that are slowly pulling us inward. Bringing the weight of the head forward, collapsing the chest (thereby affecting breathing), messing with the spine’s ability to function normally, and even affecting the functionality of walking!

Restoring proper alignment of the spine is essential to overall health and could greatly decrease your chronic pain in neck, shoulders, back, hips, and feet, to name a few.

“Proper” posture is ears over shoulders over pelvis and over the center of your feet if you’re standing. But I’m not sure there is a “perfect” posture. Just deeper awareness and strength to support your mobility every day.

Think tall thoughts!
love, Stephanie
